When that One Door Doesn’t Open

Recently I found out I was not accepted into a special program I applied for a few weeks ago (it’s all good yal).  After reading the email of rejection a few times (terrible JUST terrible lol), I became discouraged and a bit salty.  After about 10 minutes, I got up (cause I was laying in the bed staring at the ceiling) and I asked God, ‘why this door didn’t open for me?’ He went on to share with me three reasons why He chooses to keep certain doors closed.  Take a look because one of these just may bring clarity to your why….

The Door is too Heavy

Have you ever tried to open a door but you just couldn’t because it was too heavy?  I mean, there are some heavy doors that require more arm strength in order to open (i.e. my garage door).

All this to say that there are some doors that God WILL eventually open for you but now is not the time.  Why? Because you’re not ready for whatever is on the other side. You need a bit more mental and/or emotional strength to handle it.  You need more experience in order to manage what awaits you when the door does open.  If the door is too heavy, it’s a sign that you still need to work with your now so that you’ll be ready for your next.

 The Door is Blocked

You know, you’re trying to push that door open but something (or someone) is standing in the way.  There are some doors that ARE meant JUST FOR YOU but the enemy does not want you to walk through them.  He will do anything he can to keep you from opening that door of opportunity because he knows greater influence, impact and destiny awaits you on the other side.

Commercial Break- Could that someone blocking the door be you?  Are you letting your own fear, uncertainty or past experiences block your door of opportunity? Hmmmmmm

No matter who or what is blocking the door, YOU MUST WORK TO PUSH IT OUT OF THE WAY!  Keep pushing!  Give it all you’ve got until you push the doubt and/or obstacles out of your way.  Don’t become comfortable with allowing the door to remain as is.

The Door is Locked……Permanently.

I know you don’t want to hear this, but some doors are not meant for you to ever walk through.  It may look good, sound good and appear to be aligned with your purpose but it’s not.  Trust me, if certain doors continue to remain closed, don’t try break them down.  God is trying to show you that there is a better door that is waiting to open for you.

But Natalie, I’m not sure if the door is blocked, too heavy or permanently locked.

I get it.  Sometimes it can be hard to tell but if you know me, you know what I’m gonna say… yup you got it, PRAY.  If any of these speak to you, talk to God about it.  Dig in a bit more.  Let Him reveal to you what’s going on.  Don’t be OK with not knowing.  Get God’s wisdom on what your closed door means for you so that you can move ahead.

Be encouraged, because one thing this door WILL do for you, (whether it opens now, later or never) is grow and develop you.  Remember, God only has the best planned for you.  Seek His plan and trust Him…even when that othe door doesn’t open.

Much Love,

Natalie

This is what I’m dealing with. My precious Mama went to be with Jesus 2 1/2 mos.ago. You know me and Mama were best friends. Since she’s been gone all I do is cry and ask God why she had to be so sick with Alzheimers. I wanted to help her and I couldnt. At first I was angry then it went to sadness and deep depression. I know she wants me to be happy but when I think about something I feel like doing that we did together I’m cant. I just can’t get over this horrible loss. As I sit here telling you this the tears are pouring down my face. I just can’t get on with my life. I know what I’m supposed to be doing I just don’t know how to move on. Tony has been amazing with me through all this.
