Find Your Happy and Help Others Do the Same

I am super excited about the new series Trolls: The Beat Goes On which hits Netflix this Friday!  If you’re in the DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia area) plan to attend the Dreamworks Trolls Dance Party from 12 -2pm at the Canal Park Ice Rink.

Since my boys and I have to wait 3 more days until it premieres, we decided to watch the original movie over the weekend.  As I watched the movie (and jammed to all the songs), I was reminded of  4 ways you can find happy and help others do the same.  So here they go:

  1. Everyone has happiness inside them but sometimes, you have to help them find it.

Instead of allowing others to remain in an unhappy place, see if you can help them find their happy.  I dare you to try it this week.  Share a smile, a compliment, invite them to an event or share a hug.  Maybe they just need a little help. They could be waiting on someone (that’s you) to bring it out.

      2. Don’t hide when you’re needed

I actually shared a similar post on my Facebook page the other day.  Believe it or not, your light, your hope and your help will be the only thing to effect change in specific people and places. Enough hiding. The world needs your voice, your idea and your love to make it a better place.

      3. Bad things happen and there’s nothing you can do about it.

I know.  Who really wants to hear this one but it’s true.  Life will not be perfect.  You will lose sometimes.  You will fail and your heart will be broken. But, a bad season doesn’t make it a forever season.  Learn from those moments.  Start over if you need to and whatever you do, move forward and find happy again.

      4. Find a gray area where you can bring your happiness and color to!

Maybe there’s some “color” missing on your job or in your family.  Maybe there’s some gray in parts of your own life where happy and color use to reside.  I challenge you to find ways to bring the happy and color back to you, someone you know or both.  Revisit your passions, hobbies and/or activities that made you feel good about yourself.  Find you “why” again.  Take time to care for yourself and help someone else do the same.

Much Love,

I’ve learned to see the joy simple things bring to my daughter and not to overcomplicate things but to see the happy in everyday life.

Erika! I love this. As moms we must learn how to find happiness and joy in everyday life, no matter how hectic or crazy it can be sometimes. Thank you so much for commenting.

I’ve learned with 4 kids to celebrate the small stuff. The big Things are nice don’t get me wrong but they don’t come around very often. So celebrating the smaller things in life and having and sharing that joy more often feels really good.

Exactly Jennifer! I’m going to focus on the small things more this week. Such a good perspective! Thank you!

My 6 year old says she’s learned to find her own happiness by hugging her family and helping others by encouraging them to think happy thoughts!
